Patricia “Pat” Buresh

pat-buresh-1Patricia “Pat” Buresh, age 87, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Mena.

She was born on November 17, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois and lived in the surrounding suburbs until retiring in Mena, Arkansas.  She worked in the credit department at Alden’s Department Store.  She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church.  Patricia enjoyed traveling and seeing new places.  She enjoyed shopping and celebrating the holidays.  She also loved to play bingo and visit with all the residents at The Oaks Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Antoinette Lukas; her husband of 52 years, Otto F. Buresh; and her sister, Georgia Willis of Chandler, Arizona.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Claudia and Charles D. Brown of Mena, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Richard S. Venters of Senioa, Georgia and Kelly Fielder and husband Dale of Mena, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren, Hayley and Kendall Venters of Senioa, Georgia, Shane Venters of Mena and Devin and Chase Fielder of Mena; one niece, Kathryn Willis Kenny and family of Chandler, Arizona.

She will be sent for cremation by the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home with a private celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Agnes Food Pantry in Mena, Arkansas or the Humane Society of the Ouachitas in Mena, Arkansas.


Edna Jean Parson

edna-parson-1Edna Jean Parson, age 78 of Watson, Oklahoma passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 in Mena, Arkansas

Edna was born November 22, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to the late Everette Griffith Clark and Thelma Irene Clark.  She worked as a caring LPN for many years and was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend with a great sense of humor.  She will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by sons, Jr. Pollard and wife Sue and Larry Pollard and wife Sherri; daughters, Evelyn Johnson and Mona Sharp and husband Dino; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jack Wallace and Harlan Patman; and sister, Louise Clark.

Graveside service will be Monday, September 12, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Watson Cemetery with Brother Randy Keiss officiating, under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Milie Jan Clark

milie-clark-1Milie Jan Clark died in Mena Manor Nursing Home in Mena, AR surrounded by her family on September 11, 2016.  She was 95 years old.

Milie was born on October 8, 1920, in Ink, AR to her parents, Starlie Mae and William Albert Crawford.  She was a lifelong member of Piney Church of Christ.  On March 25, 1948 she married William Edwin Clark and moved to Old Potter.  For a time Milie worked at Renova Shirt Factory (and later Cowden’s) in Mena.  She kept an immaculate home, crafted 3 full meals a day, and worked diligently with her husband on the farm.  She could create beautiful quilts and clothing.

Milie was a kind, selfless person who loved her family deeply and would do anything for them. She often sacrificed her own comfort to make the load of others lighter.  She worked hard every day of her life and even in her 90s would provide wonderful meals for her family.   She lived to serve others.

Milie was preceded in death by her parents, Starlie and Will Crawford, her husband, William Clark, and her brother, Albert Crawford.

Milie is survived by sisters, Dolly Mozelle Wilhite and Eva Jo Luck; son, Byron Clark; daughter, Eldonna Keeter and husband Bob Keeter; 6 grandkids, 13 great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will take place on September 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Board Camp Cemetery with Brother Eric Keeter and Brother Chris Benner officiating.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Milie’s life.

Family and friend’s visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2016 at Beasley Wood Chapel from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Kris Clark, Tim Clark, Damon Clark, Eric Keeter, Chad Ohl, Matt Hecker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Crawford, William Crawford, Wendel Crawford, Vernon Wilhite, Brian Hilton, Larry Kesterson, Edd Myers, and Larry Clark.

Biffol Laurie Rosson Reed, 98, passed away peacefully in Royse City, TX, on September 10, 2016. She was born August 4, 1918, in Ink, AR, to Frank Rosson and Callie Moore. Biffol’s early years were spent on the family farm in Ink. After living most of her life in the Mena area, she spent the last 6 years in Texas.

Biffol was kind and caring to both family and friends. Her loves were family, flowers, quilting and especially gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters, daughter Mina Andersen, and husband Vernon Reed.

She is survived by sons Royce Stafford and wife Linda of Caddo Mills, TX, David Reed and wife Bonnie of Lewisville, TX, and Darrell Reed, Mena, AR, 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 13 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Beasley Wood Chapel in Mena. A graveside service will be held at the Concord Cemetery in Ink, AR, on Wednesday, September 14 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3001 Knox St., Suite 200, Dallas, TX 75205-4027 – or – at alz.org.

Mary Ann Hampton

mary-ann-hampton-1Mary Ann Hampton, 72, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 in her home. She was born on September 30, 1943 to Fred V. and Dorothy (DeHart) Hampton. She was a 1961 graduate of Mena High School. Mary was an active member of First Baptist Church serving in various aspects of the church, she helped where she was needed, she also loved gardening, sewing and doing craft projects. She was a longtime sales associate for J.C. Penny and a former real estate salesman. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, William Dale Stricklin.

A family held memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A graveside service for friends and family will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mena, Arkansas. Cremation is under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Miner and her husband Steve of Hatfield, AR; a brother, Fred Hampton and his wife Cynde of Mena, AR; a sister, Brenda Cunningham and her husband Dennis of Mena, AR and two granddaughters, Stephanie Huffmaster and her husband Matt and Brittney Battenfield and her husband Jeff.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church 1400 Grand Ave. Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Doyle Carter

doyle-carter-1Doyle Carter, age 77, of Cherry Hill, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home.  He was born on Saturday, August 26, 1939 to Lee Roy and Lona Bell Monks Carter in Shady Point, Oklahoma.

Doyle served his country proudly in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge.  After the service, he became a skilled truck driver; however, he spent most of his life in the operation of heavy construction equipment.  In 1982, Doyle started his own excavation business in the Dallas area called Doyle Carter Excavation, Inc.  He worked day and night building much of today’s existing Dallas home sites.  In 1989, Doyle and his wife Lillian moved to Cherry Hill for retirement.  Doyle enjoyed the country life: raising cattle, plowing gardens, fishing, and growing beautiful fruit trees.  He also enjoyed talking to people and could make anyone smile.   Doyle was a loving, compassionate husband, Daddy, Pawpaw, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, LeRoy and Frank Carter; and one sister, Sylvia Carter.

Doyle is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lillian Carter of Cherry Hill; his son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Doris Carter of Mena; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley and John David of Wylie, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie Oertli of Mena and Betty Schuler of Abilene, Texas; six grandchildren, Aaron Carter, Kyle Carter, Krystal Carter, Kacey Carter, John Carter David and Thomas David; eight great-grandchildren, Carter and Peyton Quillin, Addie Carter, Ryker Carter, Lillie and Kailee Carter, Blake Carter and Payten Raeber; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Brother Ray McGregor officiating.  Interment will follow at the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Cherry Hill under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-5 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Carter, Aaron Carter, Kyle Carter, John David, John Carter David and Thomas David.

Jimmy Dell Leinneweber

jim-leinneweber-1Jimmy Dell Leinneweber, age 80, of Mena, died Sunday, September 11, 2016 at his home.  He was born on Thursday, September 12, 1935 to John Purdenalus and Lula Sunshine Harden Leinneweber in Caddo, Oklahoma.

Jim, as he was known by friends and family, served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 20 years during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He tried to live his life as a servant of the Lord always working in ministry through the church where he was an Elder for many years at the Waldron Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Jim loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Jim enjoyed woodworking and working on the genealogy of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelations.  Jim was a loving, compassionate father, grandfather, uncle and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Leinneweber; and his sister, Doris Leinneweber.

Jim is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Ty and Kelly Leinneweber of Reading, Pennsylvania and Clayton and Carolyn Leinneweber of Harrah, Oklahoma; three daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Doug Scritchfield of Little Rock, Becky Swatvanbrooke of Arizona and Arleen and Shane Hunt of Kalispell, Montana; two brothers, Doug Leinneweber and Clyde Leinneweber both of Sherman, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, Chris Scritchfield, Claire Scritchfield, Robert Leinneweber, Kyle Leinneweber, Christina Leinneweber, Clayton Leinneweber II, Candice Leinneweber, Corey Leinneweber, Joshua Elmore, Amber Feese, Megan Elmore, Stephanie Elmore, Cynthia Hunt, Melissa Hunt, Travis Hunt and Brandon Hunt; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial services was Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.  Cremation services have been entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Audrey Geneva Liles Singleton

audrey-singleton-1Audrey Geneva Liles Singleton, of Pine Ridge, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 15th, 2016 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas.  She was born June 30th, 1936 to Clarence Boyd Liles and Myrtle Ryan Liles. Audrey was known to be a tenacious woman who was, above all things, a devoted mother.  She led a life based on hard work and perseverance, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by sons, Bill Dillard of Mansfield, Texas, William Dillard and wife Tamra of Mena, Arkansas, Terry Martin and wife Rhonda of Hatfield, Arkansas; daughter, Pamela Dillard Oliver and husband John of Royal, Arkansas; sister, Flossie Foster Parnell of Pencil Bluff, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle; her father, Clarence; her stepfather, William Foster; brothers, Charles and Delbert Foster; sister, Joyce Foster Stone; and daughter, Debra Dillard Varner.

Visitation is 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18th. Audrey’s funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Beasley Wood Funeral home in Mena with Brother Andy Kennedy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lower Big Fork Cemetery under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.


Bill Crider

bill-crider-1Bill Crider, age 86, of Mena, Arkansas passed away September 17, 2016 at home surrounded by family that loved him dearly.

Bill was born September 18, 1929 in Leaday, Texas to Artie May Bible Crider and Stanley Dexter Crider.  Bill worked in real estate in Ft. Worth, TX and a long career as an aircraft mechanic at LTV in Ft.Worth, TX and retired from Crider Aviation in Mena at the age of 81. Bill and JoAnn moved to Mena in 1969 and built a good life together. He was a member of the Mena Optimist Club, Ouachiata Arts & Crafts Guild, and volunteered at Potter and Dallas Valley Volunteer Fire Departments. Bill always loved a good joke and to laugh, he loved a good game of cards and dominoes.  He loved his family and life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Crider; and a grandson, Shane Owens.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sarah JoAnn Crider; daughters, Julia Conley and husband Bob of Clifton, TX, Mary Owens of Hillsboro, TX, Susan Rice and husband, Roger of Ft. Worth, TX, Brenda Ladd of Ft. Worth, TX, Patsy Abbott and husband Vernon of Hillsboro, TX, Twyla Millican of Grand Prairie, TX, DeeDee Matejek and husband Tom of Mena, AR; son, Rodger Crider and wife Cyndie of Mena, AR. Bill is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; sisters, Jonnie Faye Nowlin of Minneola, TX, Doylene Ricketts of Ft.Worth, TX; and brother, Jack Crider and wife Cecily of Lone Oak, TX.

He will be sent for cremation by the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home with a Celebration of his life at a later date.

Lorraine Marilynne Paskewitz

lorraine-paskewitz-1Lorraine Marilynne Paskewitz, age 90 of Mena, AR passed away September 20, 2016.  She was born April 16, 1926 in Echo, Minnesota to the late Elmer Chapman and the late Enola Melcher Chapman.  She attended grade and high school in Echo, Minnesota, and in 1946 graduated from Waldorf Junior College in Forest City, Iowa.

It is written in Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Granny’s prayer was answered; today she is in her eternal home with her Heavenly Father.

Granny said on September 20, 2010, “It was such a joy to pray on behalf of my now grown children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren.  After all, the best investment and the greatest legacy I can leave my family is the gift of my prayers.”

She married Delbert Paskewitz on October 13, 1947 in Echo, Minnesota.  She was a housewife and mother, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much.  The family moved from Vesta, Minnesota February 1, 1963.  They owned a cattle ranch near Board Camp for a number of years, and then moved to Mena August 1978.

Survivors are her six children. One son, Gary Paskewitz and wife Beckie of Mena; five daughters, Becky Gortemiller and husband Bill of Hatfield, Connie Newbolt and husband Buddy of Mena, Peggy Wright and husband Bob of Spencer, OK, Julie House and husband Stan of Mena, and Ruth Howell and husband Tracy of Mena; twelve grandchildren, Ginger and Troy Lunsford of Mena; Ladonna and Gene Malone of Cabot, AR; Jonathan and Jennifer Wright of Yukon, OK; Elizabeth and Josh Craig of Raleigh, NC; Jennifer and Derek Winchester of Prague, OK; Brandy and Tim Deck of Cabot, AR;  Brian and Lori House of Mena, Brad and Brianne House of Mena, Clayton and Jill Newbolt of Mena, Amanda and Ben Epperson of Mena, Evan and Erin Newbolt of Little Rock, AR; Michael and Monica Paskewitz of Melbourne, AR; and

25 great-grandchildren, Trey, Kaylee, Conner, Casey, Cara, Zach, Gavin, Cole, Maddie, Maylee, Brent, Travis, Alida, Wyatt, Collin, Brittney, Ashley, Cassidy, Josi, Landon, Truett, Eli, Cauy, Ryder, and Stradden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Paskewitz, her parents, her in-laws, Peter and Martha Paskewitz, a sister and brother-in-law, Anola and Don Anderson, a sister-in-law, Terry Chapman, sons-in-law Charles McCully and Lloyd Self, and one grandson, Jeremy Newbolt.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Beasley Wood Chapel with burial being held in the Nunley Cemetery under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to any local church.

Pallbearers are her grandsons and honorary pallbearers were her sons-in-law and great-grandsons.

patricia-chinquina-1Patricia “Pat” Chinquina, age 76 formerly of Mena, AR passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at her home in Tamarac, FL.

Pat was born on August 23, 1940 in Cleveland, OH.  She moved to South Florida in 1957 where she met and married her husband Lonnie and raised 2 children.  They were married until Lonnie’s death in 2003. Pat and Lonnie moved to Mena in 1996 to enjoy their retirement together.  She worked for Union Bank of Mena for several years before finally retiring in 2002. After her husband’s passing, she became very involved with the Humane Society of the Ouachitas.  She moved back to South FL in September 2015 to be closer to her children, sharing a home with her daughter until her death.

She is survived by her son, Donald Chinquina, of West Palm Beach, FL and her daughter, Carol Chinquina, of Tamarac, FL. She also leaves behind her surrogate children, Dorothy Pearson and Aaron Pearson, and her surrogate grandchild, Samantha Pearson.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Humane Society of the Ouachitas, PO BOX 845, Mena, AR 71953.

Mae Belle Shaddon

mae-belle-shaddon-1Mae Belle Shaddon, age 74 years, 2 months, 10 days went to her eternal home Sunday, September 25, 2016.

She was born July 15, 1942 in Lincoln, Arkansas to Orphus York Evans and Maggie Belle Harrah Evans. Mae Belle was married to Grady “Leon” Shaddon and had one daughter, Leona Mae Shaddon Skaggs.

She was a long time resident of Mena, Arkansas and attended Cherry Hill school and graduated from Mena High School.  She played basketball and was known as “legs” by her teammates.

She worked for many years at Renova, then at Cowdens, and eventually Alfs Manufacturing.  Later in life, she worked with the Grandparents Program at Acorn Elementary School.

She is survived by daughter, Leona Shaddon Skaggs and husband Tim Skaggs; granddaughters, Leana Hobbs and husband Josh Hobbs and Kristina Johnson and husband Josh Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Westin Johnson, Clayton Hobbs, Kylee Johnson, Chase Hobbs, Dalaney Hobbs, and Landen Johnson, all of Mena; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Orphus York and Maggie Belle Evans, two brothers, Carl Evans and Herbert Evans, and one sister, Joyce Ann Evans Dunigan.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Chant Pentecostal Church of God in Y-City, Arkansas with Brother Mike Shaddon officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chant Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Family and friends visitation will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Pallbearers will be Josh Hobbs, Josh Johnson, Westin Johnson, Clayton Hobbs, Chad Place, and Robbie Shaddon.

Leroy Jones

leroy-jones-1Mr. Leroy Jones, age 90, of Wickes, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Mena.

Mr. Jones was born on December 21, 1925 in Wickes, Arkansas, to the late Linzy Jones and Ella Wilcher. He was happily married to Madge Collins Jones, the love of his life, on September 7, 1956 in Morristown, Tennessee. They were married for 60 years.  Mr. Jones proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved to garden.  Most of all he loved his wife and was faithful to church. He was a loving and kind husband and friend to all who knew him.  He will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Madge Jones of Wickes, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Linzy and Ella Jones.

Graveside service will be Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duckett Cemetery in Wickes, Arkansas with Brother Leon McCleskey and Brother Jon Newlin officiating under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

John David Wade, Sr.

john-wade-1John David Wade, Sr., age 71, of Mena, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab in Mena.  He was born on Friday, April 13, 1945 to Robert Archibald Sr. and Myrtie Inez Tarr Wade in Eagletown, Oklahoma.
John was a man of character; a straight talker with kindness to others, he served in the banking industry for over 30 years.  In his early life, John was a barber and started in the 1980’s working at two different banks in Idabel, Oklahoma, the Idabel National Bank and the First State Bank of Idabel, and retired in 2008 from First American Bank in Stonewall, Oklahoma as President.  John loved his family very much and just recently lost his loving wife, Nelda, who was his everything. His sons and grandchildren were his world.  He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing, and going camping.  John was a member of the Cove Revival Center in Cove.  He was on several Boards of Directors during his working career including the Little River Conservation Board and the Kiwanis Club of Idabel.  John was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nelda Wade.
John is survived by his two sons and daughters in law, John Jr. and Judy Wade of Emerson, Arkansas and Alex and Kristen Wade of Vandervoort; two brothers, Robert Wade, Jr. of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Paul Wade of Bandera, Texas; three sisters, Sue Dean of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Sharon Westbrook of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Karen Coates of Lafayette, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Noah Wade, Emma Wade, Matthew Wade, Kaylie Jo Wade, Kailey Wade, Bradley Wade, and Joey Wade; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cove Revival Center in Cove with Brother Reggie Fryar officiating.  Interment will follow at the Gann Cemetery in Potter under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.  No visitation is planned.
Pallbearers will be Terry Williamson, Hershel Bell, Jay Davis, Jared Strother, and Jake Hooper.  Honorary Pallbearer will be Hilton Bell.

He was born in Umpire, Arkansas on September 1, 1946 to the late Curtis Short and Emma Counts Short.   He was married to the late Ethel Thoms Short. Dewitt was a mechanic by profession.  He was a loving and kind father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.  He will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by children, Cavin Short and wife Sara of Mena, Arkansas, Larry Short and wife Charlene of Mena, Arkansas, and Sharon Skeeper and husband Glen of Missouri; sister, Pauline Tipton; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his parents, and wife, Ethel Short.

Graveside service will be Saturday, October 8, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Concord Cemetery in Ink, Arkansas with Brother Grant Geiger officiating under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Pallbearers will be Mike White, Honnus Warren, Jerry Hansbrough, Vernon Ryan, Louie Toombs, and Bob Funderburk.

Family and friends visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Beasley Wood.

jim-hendricks-1Jim D. Hendricks, age 63 years, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Board Camp, Arkansas, after years of renal disease.

Jim was born in Mena, Arkansas, on July 25, 1953.  He was the son of Ray and Pat Hendricks, both of whom preceded him in death.  His sister, Deborah, and husband Kenneth Pierce, live in Elkton, Maryland.  His niece, Sara Pierce, and children, Coleman, Jackson, and Addison, also live in Elkton.

Jim graduated from Mena High School in 1971. He attended Southern State University, then graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Animal Science.  He worked for Tyson, as well as other places in the Mena area.

As a young teenager, Jim’s great love was horses. He was an accomplished rider, and earned awards in cattle cutting, with the help of his famous horse, “Cricket”.

He always enjoyed working on the family cattle farm.  He was a creative welder who could fashion a tool for any given need.

At his request, there will be a graveside service at Liberty Cemetery in Board Camp, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

If you desire, contributions can be made to Hospice, (1106 Mena Street, Mena, Arkansas 71953), in lieu of flowers.  Their work with Jim has been much appreciated.

Kenneth Oliver Headley, Jr. age 74, of Cove, Arkansas passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

He was born February 21, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Kenneth Oliver Headley, Sr. and Helen Zimnowada Headley. He was married to Joan Milligan Headley and was the owner of Ouachita Mountain Rockhound Rockshop. He was a firefighter for 30 years and was an avid Razorback fan.  He also enjoyed watching the Rangers and Cubs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by wife, Joan Headley of the home; sons, Kevin Headley of Plano, Texas, Michael Querio and wife JoAnn of Wellsville, Kansas; daughter, Regina Moody and husband Steve; grandchildren, Adonna McKay and husband Jeremy, Phillip Cecil and wife Nikki, Johnathan Moody and wife Danielle; great-grandchild, Jozlyn Cecil.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Eric Moody

Funeral service with Military Honors will be Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Beasley Wood Chapel with Pastor Kevin Price officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove, Arkansas.

Family and friend’s visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Ed Terman, Boyd Cecil, Jeremy Lawrence, Duane Isaacs, Leeman Gilley, and Bill Hoek.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of the Cove Rural Fire Department and the Cove Town Council.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cove Rural Fire Department.

Jack Adam Kinkade

jack-kinkade-1Mr. Jack Adam Kinkade, age 84, of Mena passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in Mena, Arkansas.

Jack was born in Arapahoe County, Colorado on November 3, 1931 to Bill E. Kinkade and Grace E. Koepke Kinkade. Celebrating almost 63 years, Jack and Johnnie Faye Martin Kinkade were married on November 26, 1953. He made many friends as salesman for Otasco for 27 years, but Jack would have told you 28 years! Jack loved his Savior first and foremost, as well as his family, and his church family. Because of Jack’s faith in Jesus Christ, he is now breathing peacefully in the presence of God.

Jack enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball. One of the things he was most proud of was how his daughters became the strong women they are today. He also enjoyed woodworking and building with his hands, and enjoyed watching the Razorbacks and gardening.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by wife, Johnnie Faye Kinkade of Mena; daughters, Kathy Rusert and husband Jerry and Colleen Rosson and husband Terry; grandchildren, Jonathan Rosson and wife Sondra, Dusty Rusert and wife Samantha, Christine Frady and husband Jearl, Toby Hollin and husband Eric; great-grandchildren, Deanna Frady, Heather Frady, Kensey Rosson, Kaison Rosson, Shelby Rusert, Cody Jack Rusert, Kooper Hollin, and soon to be Kashlyn Hollin; sister, Doris Philpot; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Grace Kinkade, and brother Jim Kinkade.

Funeral service will be Thursday, October 13, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Beasley Wood Chapel with Brother Steve Bradley and Brother Stokes Herod officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Rosson, Dusty Rusert, Jearl Frady, Eric Hollin, Scott Kinkade, and Phillip Kinkade.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deane Schuller, Virgil Howard, Emmett Pearce, Melvin Hicks, and Stokes Herod.

Travis Barney Anderson, Jr., age 68, of Hatfield, died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Smith.  He was born on Monday, March 1, 1948 to Travis Barney and Vonetha Summit Anderson in Yocana, Arkansas.
Travis was a man enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He enjoyed playing dominoes and hanging out with his friends.  He enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing. Travis was a loving, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Travis is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jammey and Rhonda Anderson of Acorn; his daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Scott Webb of Smithville; special friend, Edna Crawford of Mena; three brothers, Joel Anderson of Cove, Allon Anderson of Zafra, Oklahoma and Jerry Anderson and wife Debbie Anderson of Hatfield; one sister, Judy Cox of Mt. Ida; grandchildren, Christopher Webb, Frankie Webb and Joleana Webb, Cody Anderson, Tyler Anderson and Makayla Anderson; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial potluck will be Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Polk County Housing Authority Community Room in Mena across from Mena High School and all family and friends are invited.  Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

charley-edwards-1Charley Houston Edwards, age 74 of Big Fork passed away October 14, 2016 at his home.

Charley was born in Nunley, Arkansas to Mack H. Edwards and Rosa Lee Collier Edwards, on December 29, 1941.  Charley and “Teri” Theresa McGovern Edwards were married on October 5, 1996.

Charley was a hard-working man who did some kind of construction all of his life.  He did beautiful rock work all over the country.  He worked hard and played hard.  He was an avid hunter and rarely missed deer camp.  One of his favorite things was telling of the one killed, missed, or the one that got away.  He had a laugh that would have all laughing with him.  Charley loved his family and he knew the “Man upstairs”.  He packed a lot of living in his time here on earth and will be missed.

He is survived by wife, Teri Edwards of the home; sons, “Chuck” Charley Edwards, Jr. of Big Fork, Arkansas, Stoney Edwards and wife Cheryl of Mena, Arkansas, Mack Edwards and wife Amy of Bryant, Arkansas and Michael Edwards of the home; daughters, Chelle Stevens and husband Jeff of Hamilton, Ohio, Nichole Watson and husband Flint of Garvin, Oklahoma, Debby Edwards of Mena, Arkansas, and Montey Edwards of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Louie Dale Edwards and wife Bertha of Big Fork, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Rosa Lee Edwards, and a brother Jim Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
